I mean huge! Here we go....

Saturday afternoon Keystone will be serving with the home owner's association of the Village of Woodland Springs at their second annual Fall Festival. We had an amazing experience last year and pray God has the same favor over this event. Pray that we connect with many families and that God will use each of us in a special way! And i may get to facepaint... exciting (and a bit scary...)!

Saturday night Brian and I will be at the U2 concert. Wait, let me say that again, Brian and I will be at the U2 concert!!!! Click here to see where our tickets are. Pretty sure I have an amazing brother! I will be sure to fill you in on all the details after the show. How jealous are you right now?

Sunday we start a new series.... Storms. I am pumped about this! Brandon and the guys are tackling head-on some of the storms we face in life - guilt, worry, temptation - and where God is in the midst of them. Click here to see the promo clip and more detail.

it's really all i can say!! This weekend was Keystone's 1 year celebration and man was it incredible! It was such a sweet time of giving thanks for all that God has done in the past year and looking forward to all He will continue to do. We had record attendance of 425 and record giving as well. God is good!

Brandon cast a great vision for our future and continued heartbeat of Keystone. Check it out on this week's podcast.

we make decisions every day - vegetables or french fries? black shoes or brown shoes? should i stay up and watch Conan even though I have an 8 am meeting? etc etc

Then we make the not-so-everyday decisions - should i take this job offer? should i datethis person? should i move my family to a new city? should i (insert your question) ?

Regardless of how great or small our decisions are, we still have to make them. You may be someone who welcomes decisions or you may be someone who shies away from them or you could be like me and it just depends on what I am deciding. :)

Let me encourage you with something I have been reminded of the last several days as I am making some decisions in my own life...

The Lord says, "I will guide you along the best pathway for your life. I will advise you and watch over you." Psalm 32:8

Keystone is a year old!!!! Well, technically October 23rd, but that doesn't matter... time flies when you are having fun!

For those of you who do not know, about a year ago a group of about 70 people began a journey with the Lord in Keller, TX. We started a church called Keystone Church, and man has it been a great ride! God has been so faithful to our church and has taken us places I could not have dreamed of! In just one year we have grown to about 300ish and seen God move in the lives of so many people.

If you are looking for a dynamic place to worship that seeks truth in real life issues please check us out!

So I am not sure if this is an anniversary or a birthday for Keystone, but I looked online and found that there are certain gifts for certain anniversaries. Now I know that is specific to marriage, but it's interesting. The 1st year traditional gift is paper and the modern gift is a clock .... something to look forward to.

ever have one of those days (or weeks) where you just feel the weight of the world on your shoulders? Or that things are unraveling so fast and at any moment the wheels are gonna come off and the sky might as well fall in just for kicks? Whether this is coming from your mistakes or it's just life, it stinks! You want to run upstairs and wake up when its all over, or at least i do.

i read some things tonight that have given me so much encouragement. As Christ followers, nothing can separate us from the love of God, nothing. Nothing. Nothing. Our family, our friends, our mistakes, pur past, our kids, our hateful thoughts, our fears, out worries, our road rage. Nothing. Life can't, death can't, Satan can't - he wants you to believe he can - or any of this stuff can, but truth is..... nothing can. God promises nothing will separate us from his love (Romans 8:35-39). Sin and rebellion disrupt our fellowship with him , but it does not stop his love from pursuing us. Did you know we don't have to sin? As Christ-followers, we "are under no obligation what so ever to do what our sinful nature urges us to do." (Romans 8:12). Granted we are human and we will sin, but in those moments where the choice is clear and the temptation is strong, we don't have to do it. We are empowered by the Holy Spirit to turn from that sin. And for whatever reason if we do give in, God is there, with his love and grace and forgiveness in full measure, waiting for us to ask and receive.

Imagination by Bethany Dillon

They always say the sophomore album is the hardest, and Bethany Dillon has risen to the challenge. Though much of the album us still growing on me, I am very impressed with her growth and excellence on Imagination (This is saying alot, considering I wore out her first album, especially after seeing her live). Not only have her writing and vocals matured but her fearlessness to tackle the tough issues of faith is stronger than ever.

Her accoustic pop sound is alive and well in All That I Can Do and Dreamer and her refreshing vulnerability and lyrical crafstmanship are found in My Love Hasn't Grown Cold and the title track, Imagination. This album is definitely a journey you would not expect most 16 year olds to take you on.

I saw Beth on her tour last year with Bebo Norman and was floored by her insight and ability to communicate such incredible things in such simple ways. Plus the girl can flat out sing! Needless to say, I am a fan! She is on tour this fall with Jeremy Camp. You can find her albums in most retail outlets, online and on iTunes.

Guilty Pleasure Premiere ... Grey's Anatomy

Just when you think the hospital drama/comedy could not be re-invented... it was! Grey's Anatomy premeired earlier this year to critical acclaim and is now back for it's second season.

I absolutely love this show! It is so well written an acted! Huge fan!!! The series is also well known for it's music, complete with a website guide and more iTunes mixes than you will ever need. The Season Premiers is Sunday night, September 25th at 9pm!

A Little Overwhelmed

Tweny four hours later and I am still trying to wrap my head around the Battle of the Bands we had at Keystone. God blessed us tremendously! We had between 700 and 800 students last night...no, that's not a typo! Like I said, a little overwhelmed!

A huge thanks goes out to to Bill Jones and Brian Burton who put in countless hours of behind the scenes work! And if you see a Keystone Student Ministry volunteer... thank them! The event would not have been possible without them. Also a big thanks to Hillwood Middle School (KISD) for letting us use the building. We are so grateful for their hospitality! Props to the students at Keystone for handing out mass amounts of fliers!

Avril Lavigne & Gavin DeGraw in Concert

For my birthday, my brother bought us tickets to see Avril and Gavin (he's a great brother)! The concert was fantastic, complete with mini-Avrils walking around. Smirnoff is a great outdoor venue and it was a perfect, Texas, summer night. Gavin comepletely stole the show....his voice is just ridiculous! If you ever get a chance to see him, do it!

battle of the bands

The student ministry at Keystone Church is launching this Saturday with a Battle of the Bands. We are showcasing 6 very talented local bands. Not only will there be great live music, but you will hear an incredible deejay, and have a chance to win some great prizes - iPods, iPods Shuffles, and a PSP. Throw in some food and what more could you want? The event is free and starts at 6pm at Hillwood Middle School. Students only please.
